CNA Board Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Beth Ryan, Bill Clarkson, Baila Romm, Peter Weinberger, Sherry Brennan
Absent: Ramsey Salem, Shannon Ferszt
1. Called meeting to order at 8:15pm.
2. Election Notes
72 ballots were needed for a quorum; 85 ballots were received. Ballots were opened and tallied by Miryam Bachrach, who has certified the election and reports that all candidates were elected by the required majority of ballots received. No candidate received fewer than 77 votes; no candidate received more than 82 votes. There was one write-in candidate, with one vote, so that candidate was not elected.
3. Election of Officers
By unanimous decision, the following Board members were elected to the following Officer positions:
President – Sherry Brennan
Vice President – Bill Clarkson
Secretary – Baila Romm
Treasurer – Shannon Ferszt
4. Goals & Committees
The Board discussed its priorities for 2008 and decided upon the following areas and committees, with leader(s) for each as indicated:
- Membership – Baila Romm will head up this area, which includes tracking the membership forms, learning who moves into the neighborhood, and recruiting new members from the non-member or expired member bases.
- Block Captains – Sherry Brennan will work with Beth Ryan to put in place an active, committed Block Captain for each Crestview block.
- Neighborhood Watch – Baila Romm will continue to work with adjacent neighborhoods to put NW programs in place, and will work with Crestview’s NW members as well. Baila will also work with Sherry and the Block Captains to identify a CERT Team for emergency preparedness in the neighborhood.
- CPAB – Baila Romm will continue to represent Crestview at CPAB meetings.
- Alexander Protective Services – Sherry Brennan will take on maintenance of this relationship, and any successor security monitoring agency.
- Local traffic issues – Bill Clarkson will work with the Block Captains to clarify the neighborhood’s position on installation of speed bumps. Bill will also work on local parking, stop sign, or other local traffic-related issues.
- Website – Bill Clarkson will continue his updates on the website, and will work with Beth Ryan to transition Crestview Chat from Beth’s personal website to Crestview’s. Beth will continue to act as the Chat’s moderator for 2008.
- Trees and neighborhood beautification – Ramsey Salem will continue to work on tree trimming and other elements of neighborhood beautification. He will provide a “tree of the month” or “lawn of the month” feature for the website and for each published newsletter.
- Newsletter – Peter Weinberger, Sherry Brennan and Ramsey Salem will work together to gather articles, print and distribute at least four newsletters in 2008. Ramsey will donate printing services again this year; CNA will purchase the paper.
- Liaison for City Initiatives – Peter Weinberger will participate in SoRo and other citywide committees or organizations dealing with projects effecting Crestview. Such projects to include the Pico/Olympic traffic plan, as well as the Pico Gateway and Expo Line projects.
- Neighborhood Party – Beth Ryan and Baila Romm will lead the organization of a party for the neighborhood to be held sometime in Summer 2008.
5. Block Captains Role
The Board briefly discussed the following appropriate roles for Block Captains:
- Newsletter distribution
- Neighborhood Watch meetings
- Speed bump survey
- New neighbor info to Baila
6. Meetings
The Board agreed to meet regularly on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month, at 8pm, at the home of Sherry Brennan. Future meetings will focus on accomplishments over the prior month, committee/project reports, and goal-setting for the remainder of the year.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:35pm.
